Finding lost pensions

Most people work for more than one company during their working life. As people change jobs, they often leave small pension pots behind. If you can’t find the contact details of a past pension scheme, don’t worry. Help is at hand.

The Pension Tracing Service can help you contact previous employers and is free to use. All you need is the name of the employer or pension plan.

When you have details of previous pensions, contact the organisation to:

• Confirm that you have pension benefits with them
• Check that they have your correct address
• Ask for a statement of the value of your pension plans

If you have several pension pots, you could combine these into one single pot. But there are factors you need to consider.
